Born on October 1, 1979, in Virginia, Johnson first made his mark at Auburn University. In 2000, he rushed for more than 1,500 yards and scored 13 touchdowns, earning the SEC Player of the Year award. His physical style and determination quickly caught the attention of NFL scouts.

Bengals career highlights

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Johnson in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft, and he went on to play seven seasons with the team before finishing his career with the Detroit Lions in 2008.

Johnson became a household name in Cincinnati, delivering three straight seasons with over 1,300 rushing yards from 2004 to 2006. In 2005, he set a franchise record with 1,458 rushing yards, a mark that stood for years. His consistency and toughness made him a cornerstone of the Bengals’ offense and earned him a spot in the 2004 Pro Bowl.

By the end of his career, Johnson had rushed for nearly 6,000 yards and scored 49 touchdowns.
