This story discusses suicide.

Fiona Hepler Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter, has died. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has concluded that her death was a suicide.

Fiona died on Tuesday at a hospital in the Los Angeles area, according to the medical examiner's office. Her family confirmed the news to People magazine, saying they were "deeply heartbroken" by the loss of their daughter.

A Family in Mourning

In their statement, the family remembered Fiona as a loving girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance. They said she was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents, and called her "the light of our lives." They asked for prayers and privacy.

Fiona was born on Nov. 16, 2012, and was the second of three daughters. Her older sister, Mabel, is 17, and her younger sister, Nixie, is 10. Her middle name, Hepler, was the maiden name of Chad Lowe's late mother and is also the middle name of his older brother, actor Rob Lowe.

Chad Lowe's father, Chuck Lowe, paid tribute on Instagram, writing "Rest in peace sweet Fiona."
