Toronto New Year Fireworks 2024

As the countdown to New Year's Eve begins, Toronto is set to welcome 2024 with excitement and style.

On the upcoming Sunday night, the City of Toronto will transform the waterfront into a vibrant hub for New Year's celebrations. The festivities kick off at 10 p.m., featuring lively music sets by DJs Sofia Fly and Cozmic Cat. Additionally, attendees can enjoy pop-up participatory dance performances, co-produced in collaboration with the Dance Together Festival.

The festivities will unfold at various locations, including Sherbourne Common (61 Dockside Dr.), Exhibition Common at Harbourfront Centre (235 Queens Quay W.), and Toronto Music Garden (476 Queens Quay W.). Get ready to embrace the joy and energy of New Year's Eve in Toronto as the city comes alive with music, dance, and the spirit of celebration.

At 11:30 p.m., the enchanting Tynomi Banks, a world-renowned drag queen, will take the stage to host a timeless countdown. Following this, a spectacular 10-minute fireworks display, synchronized to music, will illuminate the night sky, commencing precisely at the stroke of midnight. This pyrotechnic extravaganza stands as the largest of its kind in Canada.

For those seeking the best vantage points to witness this dazzling display, designated viewing areas are strategically located at Sherbourne Common (61 Dockside Dr.), Toronto Music Garden (476 Queens Quay W.), Harbour Square Park (25 Queens Quay W.), Sugar Beach Park (11 Dockside Dr.), Little Norway Park (659 Queens Quay W.), HTO Park (339 Queens Quay W.), and Harbourfront Centre (235 Queens Quay W.).

For those who prefer to join the celebration from the comfort of their homes, the City of Toronto's New Year's Eve festivities will be accessible via live webcast, starting at 10 p.m. Bring in the new year with joy, sparkle, and a sense of togetherness, whether you're on the waterfront or celebrating from home.

TRAFFIC CLOSURES

Drivers planning to navigate the waterfront on New Year's Eve should be aware of road closures, notably affecting eastbound Queens Quay West and Bay Street from Lakeshore Boulevard West to Queens Quay West. These closures will be enforced from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., with the possibility of additional road closures by Toronto police as needed during the event.

While there are nearby Green P lots, the city strongly encourages revelers to opt for public transit. For those heading to the fireworks, Line 1 to Union Station is recommended, followed by a connection to the 509 Harbourfront or 510 Spadina streetcars. Alternately, connections can be made to the 510 Spadina at Spadina Station or the 511 Bathurst at Bathurst Station.

To accommodate the influx of passengers, extra service will be provided on Lines 1 and 2. Additionally, there will be additional streetcars on the 501 Queen, 504 King, 509 Harbourfront, and 510 Spadina routes. Extra buses will also be deployed in the area after the fireworks display.

Notably, both the TTC and GO Transit are offering free service on New Year's Eve from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m., providing a convenient and cost-free option for celebrants.

OTHER CELEBRATIONS

While there won't be fireworks at Toronto City Hall or Nathan Phillips Square, the skating rink will remain open until 10 p.m. for those who wish to enjoy it before heading to the waterfront. The square is adorned with vibrant holiday installations as part of the Cavalcade of Lights.

Additionally, a New Year's Eve celebration will take place at the Distillery Historic District on Sunday evening. Hosted by Devo Brown with music by DJ Clymaxxx, the event will feature live musical performances and culminate in fireworks at midnight in Trinity Square.

Admission to the Distillery Historic District's Winter Village is free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. After 4 p.m., tickets are required and cost $25. The Distillery Historic District is situated at 55 Mill St., south of Front Street and east of Parliament Street.
